January 7, 2020 – North Liberty, IA – MZD, a provider of performance assessment software, today announced successful completion of their 2019 SOC 2 Type 1 examination. This achievement reflects their long-standing commitment to data security, while giving them a competitive edge in their industry.

“Being compliant is a must-have when serving educational institutions,” noted Zac Henrich, CEO of MZD.

“Our goal is to continue growing MZD at a rapid pace, and the SOC 2 provides an essential foundation to help us better serve districts, states, and other education organizations.”

This commitment is shared by leaders across the entire company.

“As an education technology company, information security and compliance has always been a top priority for MZD,” explained Miles Loring, CTO and Co-Founder of MZD. “SOC 2 compliance demonstrates our ongoing commitment to ensuring the security of our clients’ data and provides greater transparency.”

MZD’s efforts allow them to demonstrate a substantially higher level of assurance and operational visibility than companies that have not undergone a SOC 2 examination.

MZD was examined against the AICPA Trust Services Criteria for Security, Availability, and Confidentiality. The engagement confirmed that the company’s controls were designed and placed into operation to protect information and systems against unauthorized access or disclosure of information; that the company’s information and systems were available for operation to meet their objectives; and that information designated as confidential was adequately protected.

The engagement “is evidence of our ongoing commitment to protect our clients’ data so they can focus on the most important work: education,” Loring continued.

MZD’s examination efforts were completed by the professional and independent third-party audit firm, 360 Advanced, Inc.
